We’ve got the Toaster

So you’ve had a party, huh? Carpets trashed, upholstery ruined yeah? Well, you’ve got 2 choices.
Call a professional like me, or do it yourself. Now if I do a job, I do it properly with bespoke alkaline
cleaning solutions. But if you’re by yourself and if you’ve spent all your money on cheap nasty
beer that’s now all over your Mum’s antique sitting room rug, here’s what you do:cleaner1.jpg

CARPET STAINS

BEER
1 Mix a teaspoon of a mild ph balanced detergent (a mild non alkaline non bleaching detergent) with a cup of lukewarm water
2 Dab the stain with a cloth or kitchen towel to absorb it
3 Mix a third of a cup of white household vinegar with two thirds of a cup of water
4 Dab again
5 Sponge with clean water
6 Dab again

WINE
1 Use a white towel or paper towels to soak up as much of the wine as possible
2 Sprinkle the stain liberally with tonic water or 7-Up
3 Leave to stand for 5 minutes
4 Again, use white or paper towels to soak up the liquid, standing on it to add pressure. Repeat until liquid is removed
5 Rinse with clean water, soaking up liquid with a clean towel

N.B. Using a dab of shaving foam can help remove red-wine carpet stains

BLOOD
1 Mix together a paste of water, an cornflour or talcum powder
2 Dab onto the fresh spots. Leave until dry
3 Brush off. Alternatively cover stain with meat tenderizer, add cool water. After 15 to 30 mins, sponge off.

TOP CLEANING TIPS

• A house that smells fresh will seem clean. Leave baking soda on carpeting for the night to absorb musty odors. Vacuum thoroughly in the morning.

• Leaving a saucer of vinegar in the room overnight will remove all traces of cigarette smoke.

• Baking Soda is perfect for cleaning baths and sinks without scratching the enamel. It cleans better than any cleaner and leaves everything smelling nice.

• 4 Alka-Seltzer tablets can be used to bring your toilet bowl up sparkling clean. Leave for an hour and then brush.

• What better than air freshener to clean mirrors? It does a great job as well as leaving a lovely smell.

• To remove burnt on food from oven dishes, soak in Steradent Denture cleaner and hot water.

• Broken glasses and bottles? Dispose of them safely by wearing rubber gloves and using some masking tape to pick up the pieces.

• Remove those stubborn bits of food off your work surface, by rubbing across the upturned lid of a milk carton. Pressing hard will help you scrape them off quickly and easily without harming the surface.

• When dusting wear an old, unmatched sock on your hand.
