In the dogged pursuit of authenticity (nothing to do with the low budget) Janey Moffatt, both the Producer and Casting Director picked young, fresh talent almost exclusively from the local area – many of whom were making their big screen debuts.

Jamie Mander (Lance Long)
Jamie appeared in regional theatre productions such as ‘The Wizard of Oz’
and ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ before taking the lead in‘Toaster’. He is
currently studying drama at Bournemouth Institute of Arts, chosen by Jamie
purely for the integrity of the course and not for the legendary nightlife.
Rob Smith (Henry)
Currently studying Film & Video Production at Hatfield University, Rob has
appeared in student productions including ‘Abigail’s Party’, ‘The Doll’s House’
and ‘Equis’ and has written and directed several shorts. A committed method
actor, Rob watched hours of adult films before playing Henry.

Emma Blake (Steph)
Emma’s previous experience includes student productions of ‘The Odd
Odyssey’, ‘Living with Lady MacBeth’ and ‘Wild Wild Women’. Emma’s Roy
Keane’esque crunching tackles won her ‘man of the match’ in Toaster’s cast v
crew football game.

Alex Hay (George)
Alex’s took principal roles in The Trinity Youth Theatre’s productions of ‘The
Orestia’, and ‘A Beggar’s Opera’ before being selected by the National Youth
Theatre to participate in National Drama Workshops. In 2004, he played the
lead in El Mono Theatre’s acclaimed production of ‘Macbeth’. On ‘Toaster’
Alex demanded his own trailer with fresh flowers daily, and insisted that
everyone on set called him George.
Janine Clayden (Abbey)
Having started performing at the age of 3, Janine quickly developed her
skills at theatres across the South East performing in ‘The Lion The Witch
And The Wardrobe’, ‘Peter Pan’, and ‘Bugsy Malone’ amongst many others.
She is currently studying Theatre at West Kent College and on set emitted more noise then any other cast or crew member.

Will Bayley (Ralph)
Presently studying drama at the ‘Brit School’, Will’s former experience
includes several productions for local theatre companies. His most notable
appearance, The Artful Dodger in ‘Oliver’ was clearly a role he found difficult
to shake off as several cast and crew members invariably found mobile
phones, wallets and watches mysteriously missing after shooting Will’s scenes.

James Green (Ian)
James is currently studying drama at Beacon Community College where he has
appeared in student productions of ‘Henry V’ and ‘Rats’ in which he played the
lead. After appearing in ‘We’ve got the Toaster’ James is now set to audition
for the UK’s leading stage schools. He is considering keeping his brace as he
says the women go nuts for it.

Daniel York (The Policeman)
Daniel York spent a season with The Royal Shakespeare company
before taking supporting roles in Rogue Trader with Ewan McGregor and
Danny Boyle’s the Beach starring Leonardo Di Caprio. He took the
leading role in Time Out critics choice ‘The Sun is Shining’ which was
subsequently taken off Broadway. Most recently Daniel appeared in
Hollywood’s blockbuster ‘Doom’ which he says works on as many
different levels as the computer game it was adapted from.

Andrew McDonald (Mr Long/Lances Dad)
A 24 year career in theatre, TV and Film has seen Andrew tour with the
Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of The Alchemist directed by
Sam Mendes, make several TV appearances including Eastenders and
The Bill and the 2004 mockumentary feature ‘The Dark Hunter’. Andrew
did all of his own stunts on set including sitting on a kitchen chair.

James Delow (The Stain Doctor)
James studied broadcast technology before starring in and co-directing
his first short film ‘Wrapping Paper’. James is best known for his voice
over work and cameo appearances on Channel 4’s T4 Sunday. Mike
said the casting of his half-brother as a cleaner is ironic since his flat is
“a total sh*t-hole”

Janey Moffatt (Producer)
Born in Coleraine, N.Ireland, Janey studied at the University of Leeds
and worked in fashion sales before bringing her inspirational working
methods to the world of film, setting up Toaster Productions with Mike
Laloë in 2003. Janey has Produced several music videos and is
currently developing a slate of new feature-length projects. Her love of
The Lion King borders on the obsessive.

Mike Laloe (Writer / Director)
Mike spent six years at several London agencies writing and directing
radio ads and making corporate films for clients such as Coca-Cola,
One2One and Procter & Gamble. His on-line soap opera for Swan Vesta
scooped him several leading industry awards. On ‘We’ve got the
Toaster’ – his debut feature, Mike lost it on set on one or two
occassions. “I didn’t shout or anything, I just went and sulked in the car”.

James Stapeley (Associate Producer / 2nd Unit Director)
James studied Film at the Southampton Institute making a series of
shorts including ‘The Dresden Collection’, and ‘Prime Time’ under the
tutorledge of acclaimed Director Ken Russell. He is the King of lookalikes
resembling Alan Shearer, Dougie Hauser MD and the guy off the Pimms Ad.

Karla Lock (Director of Photography)
Australian born Karla immigrated to the UK in 97, and after winning awards
in the corporate design industry re-trained in film to work on several pop
-promos, shorts and as DOP on ‘Toaster’. She selflessly agreed to appear
in front of the camera as one of the girls snogging Lance.
